Abandoned

Abandoned is a series of sculptures created from discarded and abandoned objects found around metro Detroit. Ramos also made audio recordings at the locations of the found objects, capturing the sound of their environments as the basis of a sound artwork, which is available here. The overall concept of this work is an exploration of the meaning and function of objects. It considers the act of abandonment and challenges definitions of beauty and function. Observers are witnessing change in real time; the metamorphosis of abandoned objects into a new form of existence.
